Pokémon-Go-Vandalismus auf OpenStreetMap
Ich mag diese abstrusen Auswüchse unserer digitalen Gesellschaft. Die OpenStreetMap muss gerade gegen Idioten ankämpfen, die verschiedene Landstriche zu Stränden und Küsten umdeklarieren. Der Grund: Offenbar bezieht Pokémon GO ein paar Daten aus der OSM und macht davon unter anderem abhängig, welche Pokémon bei der Spieler*in spawnen.
Die Nummer hat selbstverständlich auch ihre Schattenseiten, wie Emanuel Maiberg für 404 Media hervorhebt:
“Hello again, Thanks for your interest in OpenStreetMap,” an OpenStreetMap user who corrected dozens of these changes said in a comment on one of the fake beaches. “OpenStreetMap is a real map used by thousands of people everyday for many purposes, including disaster response, navigation, business, and many other things. Please only add real information to the map that you know to be accurate.”

Zehn Jahre nach Launch und sechs Jahre nach Ende der App sieht Social Media (und die Welt) ziemlich anders aus. Damals hatte der Nonkonformismus der Idee ein gewissen Reiz.
