8½ doesn't seem to be just a self-critical Fellini but a critique of cinema itself. Is that possible? I'm not versed enough in film of that era to say for sure.

Anyways, it's insane how much talking there is in 8½ but how little actually is said. This, of course, is clearly on purpose. Because if you don't have to say anything, you better don't start talking at all – at least if you are an artist.
